Plasma drive proves itself
Link: http://www.onorbit.com/node/1194
Ad Astra's VX-200 Plasma rocket was tested at full power on July 2nd, and performed as expected and within the parameters needed for space travel.
One of the biggest problems with space travel at present is the huge volume of fuel required for any significant journey. Plasma engines require much less fuel volume for a given thrust. It can't provide enough power to send a rocket into orbit, but it can drastically improve the efficiency of interplanetary travel.
Here is a simple breakdown of the engine design.
