LA Fires.

For those of you who haven't noticed... well you probably don't care, but Los Angeles is currently suffering from a number of brush fires. I have family in one of the communities threatened by the fires, La Crescenta.

As things stand now the Station fire, as the brush fire that started in the Angeles National Forest is called is still burning more or less out of control. The communities of Briggs Terrace, Altadena, Juniper Hills and Sunland are all threatened by the constantly spreading fire. There have been major evacuations in Altadena, Juniper Hills and La Crescenta.

The advancing front of the fire is now dangerously close to Mt Wilson observatory and most of the firefighters have been forced to withdraw from the mountain.

Unpredictable but light winds are causing problems for the firefighters but also keeping the fire from spreading as much as it would otherwise.

Here is a link to a Google Maps page that is being updated by someone from the LA Times. It carries the latest information about evacuation zones and shelters set up to house those forced from their homes. I'll drop in more updates as I get them.

Here is a link to information about all the evacuation zones and details on the firefighting efforts.

I will update this blog with further information as I find out more.
